What We Hear Often

They filled and painted over it. Now it looks worse than before.

No filler. No paint. Just the dent, gone. Some shops reach for filler and spray because it's faster for them. Paintless dent repair skips all that. Your finish stays intact, and the repair holds up in any light.

"They said they fixed it. You can still see it if the light hits it right."
"The paint doesn't match now. They said it would blend in. It didn't."
"I didn't know PDR was an option. Nobody mentioned it."
"Hail season came and went. 3 shops gave me 3 completely different stories."

Why Dent Repairs Go Wrong

Filler is fast.
It's also the
wrong answer.

Most shops reach for body filler by default. It's quicker than PDR and easier to bill. But filler shrinks, cracks, and tells every future buyer — and every inspector — that the car was damaged.

Filler Over Factory

Filler bonds to paint, not metal. It shrinks in cold, separates in heat, and any magnet test reveals it instantly. It's a surface fix dressed up as a repair.

Unnecessary Repaints

Spraying a dent that didn't need paint creates a color match problem that wasn't there before. Your factory finish is gone, and the repair shows in sunlight.

Incorrect Lighting

Dent work needs proper lighting to read the metal surface accurately. Without it, low spots and texture issues stay hidden until someone looks with the right light.

Hail Damage Misdiagnosed

Most light to moderate hail damage is a PDR job. Shops without that skill default to a repaint because it's the only option they have.

Resale Value Loss

Paintwork on a Carfax report signals damage to every future buyer. PDR leaves no paint record because no paint was used. Your car's history stays clean.

No Honest Assessment

Not every dent is a PDR candidate, and a good shop will tell you that upfront. If you're only getting one option, you're probably not getting the right one.

The Result You're After

Run your hand
over it.
Feel nothing.

When PDR works, the evidence is gone. The metal returns to where it started, the paint stays untouched, and your car's history stays clean. That's the physics of the method.

Factory Finish Preserved

Your original paint stays untouched — no sanding, no primer, or color mismatch.

No Visible Evidence

Every repair is checked under specialized lighting from every angle before it leaves.

Clean Vehicle History

No paint record means no Carfax flag. Your resale value stays where it belongs.

Back Same Day

Most minor dents are done in hours. No rental car, no waiting around.

Common Questions

Straight answers
about dent
repair.

PDR is one of the most misunderstood services in auto body. Here's what you need to know.

How do I know if my dent can be fixed with PDR?
The main factors are paint condition and dent depth. If the paint hasn't cracked or chipped, and the dent hasn't stretched the metal beyond its elastic limit, PDR is usually the right call. Sharp dents from impacts, like a shopping cart or door edge, are sometimes trickier than round dents from hail or minor dings. The honest answer is bring it in and we'll assess it under proper lighting and tell you what we're looking at.
Does PDR work on hail damage?
Yes, light to moderate hail damage is one of the best PDR candidates there is. The dents are typically round, shallow, and spread across multiple panels without cracking the paint. We offer free hail assessments. Bring your vehicle in after a storm and we'll map the damage, tell you what PDR can address, and give you a written estimate before anything starts.
How long does PDR take?
Single door dings and minor dents typically run 1 to 3 hours. Multi-panel hail damage can take 1 to 3 days depending on the extent. We give you a time estimate at the assessment stage. And unlike traditional body work, there's no paint cure time to wait for. When the metal is done, the car is done.
Will PDR affect my car's paint or finish?
No, that's the point. PDR works entirely from behind the panel. No sanding, no primer, no paint. The factory finish is never touched. So there's no color match issue, no clear coat disruption, and no record of paintwork on your vehicle history. When it's done right, the only thing that changed is the shape of the metal.
What if PDR isn't the right option for my dent?
We tell you upfront — before any work starts. Some dents have cracked paint, stretched metal, or prior repair history that makes PDR the wrong call. In those cases we explain exactly why, what the traditional repair process would involve, and what it would cost. You leave with a clear picture of your options either way, not a surprise after disassembly.
Does my insurance cover PDR for hail damage?
Most comprehensive insurance policies cover hail damage including PDR. We work directly with all major carriers and handle the documentation. In Texas you also have the right to choose your own repair shop, your insurer can recommend one but cannot require you to use it. Bring your vehicle in, we'll assess the damage and work directly with your carrier from there.
